Weekend Recap

We had a full weekend!
Friday I took off a half day just to spend time with my husband!  He took me to lunch downtown at Bee Bop's.

Totally not on my diet right now but who cares?  Forget those calories and feed me that burger!
Afterwards, he took me shopping at one of my favorite stores - Bella Ragazza!  Followed up by a trip to the chiropractor for us both (post to come on my journey to becoming a chiropractic patient) and a crafting trip to Hobby Lobby (you'll see why on this later!).  After our adventures out, we returned home to watch the UofL game and then I hung out with the girls & our husbands had poker night :)
Saturday was beautiful and we spent most of the day working on our landscaping!  We are slowing down decorating and furnishing the inside right now and switching focus to the outside of our house.  We just bought our house last August and spent so much time getting the inside ready before the wedding that we didn't do a whole lot to the yard besides pull up the huge bushes around the front of our house.  Huge bushes doesn't even describe these.  I'll post some before and after pictures as we make progress and I can promise you will be shocked by how much the look of our house changed just from pulling up those bushes!
We dug up all of the brick outlining the landscaping which ended up being quite a job with how much it had sunken into the ground.  We basically had to dig up a trench around all of our landscaping front & back!  But this is okay because we're basically taking all existing landscaping out and starting over!
Not long after we started, we realized we would need another shovel and I needed some gloves to work with!  We headed off to Lowe's and I ended up with these gloves.
My name is Kelsey and I have the hands of a child and couldn't keep the smallest women's gloves from falling off.  So Disney princess gloves it is!
Saturday night we had dinner with J's parents and then we had a date night to go see Cinderella!

My husband is the best : )
Best movie I've seen in a long time!  The movie was so beautiful and really focused on encouraging young girls to have courage & be kind instead of focusing so much on the romance aspect.  It was wonderful seeing this classic recreated in a new way that not only worked but kept me smiling the whole movie and put me in the most amazing mood!  Jared and I both really enjoyed it.
Sunday Jared worked which meant I trekked over to McLean county by myself for church & then lunch with my grandad, dad & stepmom!
Trying out a new outfit for church!

  How precious is he?
After lunch, we headed home to stream the OHS championship game!  The high school Jared and I both attended (and where our story began) won the state basketball championship!! How exciting :)  So proud to be a red devil!

When I got home, some of our flowers were blooming!
Sunday night, my best friend & maid of honor Haley came over and hung out with me while I worked on this wedding card book & we watched the Louisville game.  The Cards pulled off another win that moves them on to the sweet sixteen!  What a great day to be an OHS & Louisville fan!
Post to come on how I made my DIY wedding card book soon!
All in all, it was a pretty great weekend!  It went by too fast as usual though.  We have a lot of exciting things going on this week that I can't wait to share :)
Happy Monday!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday (thank goodness!!!!) which means its time to share some of my favorite things with you all!  Also, happy first day of spring!! I'm super excited for the warmer weather to come and to transition my closet! Boots & sweaters were fun for a while but I'm ready for shorts & sandals!
1. Yankee Candles
http://www.yankeecandle.com/product/bunny-cake/_/R-1300162?_requestid=82174http://www.yankeecandle.com/product/eucalyptus/_/R-11511?_requestid=82191

I wanted some new candles for our house so bad but it was hard to find ones that I liked & Jared liked.  While in Evansville a while ago, we went to the Yankee Candle store and found FOUR that we loved!  These are the four we bought.  I'm saving Watermelon and Picnic in the Park for this summer.  Right now, we are using Bunny Cake & Eucalyptus.  Eucalyptus was a very common oil and fragrance used at the resort we stayed at on our honeymoon and we've been looking to recreate the scent ever since!  My thoughtful husband had the sales lady find one online that they could order for me (not in all the stores anymore).  We burn it and it is instantly relaxing! Love it!  The Bunny Cake candle is perfect for this time of year and super fun with Easter coming up!  Click on any of the images above to find these candles on the Yankee Candle website!
2. Music

I always love music but I have heard so many new amazing songs lately!  It's springtime officially & I love some good music to drive around listening & singing to :)

If this song doesn't cause a dance party to occur in your car, we can't be friends :)

3. March Madness!
It's officially March Madness and there's a lot of basketball watching going on in our house!  Our high school is currently competing in the state tournament & we are streaming that when we can.  We're also cheering for our Cards in the NCAA tournament!   My bracket is already a disaster but I don't care, I just want to see our Cards make a good run!

4. Creating new recipes!
I'm working on some new recipes for our house & the blog right now and it's so fun trying out new ideas :)

5. Time off spent with my husband :)
Life has been so crazy lately that I'm taking off at noon today just to spend a fun afternoon with this guy!  Super excited to just hang out and enjoy the day :)  We have a busy but fun weekend ahead and I'm pretty darn excited that we've carved out some time today & tomorrow to just spend some good quality time together!

Daily Schedule

Last week, I talked about our cleaning schedule here & that routines were currently one my favorite things in my Friday Favorites found here!  I am not crazy enough to think that we can always follow routines or schedules but I also believe that if you don't set a goal you'll never meet it.  So I think of these as more "goals" for the day, week, etc that I try to meet.  I decided to create a daily schedule for myself to just keep me on task throughout the day and am sharing that with you all today!

I have found my cleaning schedule harder to follow but this daily schedule has really helped me!

Getting a lot of the necessary daily stuff (checkbook, bills, etc) out of the way first thing in the morning really helps me to be prepared for the day.  It might seem silly to lay out my pj's at lunch but it's a visual reminder to me when I get home to get all my stuff done & hop in those babies as fast as possible!  I can never get in fully relaxed mode until I'm in my pj's :)

Packing my food & work bag for the next day, as well as at least thinking about what I'm going to wear (laying it out is even better but doesn't always happen), really saves me time & a lot of stress in the mornings when I'm trying to get out the door!  I can go to bed not worrying about a long list in the morning and it frees up more am time that I can use to watch a show (I always save my fave reality shows for the mornings since I can just listen to it while I get ready), read a little or even take some time to relax!

Like I said, I don't follow this schedule every day.  Some days are so crazy right now that I'm glad I remember to take my house shoes off and throw on heels & flats before I head out the door.  (no joke: totally attempted to leave the house the other day all dressed up for work with houseshoes on.  Hand to face :/  Thankfully I noticed before getting in the car!)

Schedules aren't perfect and neither am I, but having this daily schedule & my cleaning schedule posted right in front of my face when I'm sitting in my home office reminds me of my goals for the day and keeps me on task!

What about you?  Do you keep a daily schedule?  Any little things you do throughout the day that just make life easier?  Feel free to share, I'm always up for ideas!

Some of my fabulous bridal party :)

So much fun!

I felt emotional & so overwhelmed by everyone's love so much already but this is the moment where I lost it at the shower.  This quilt was made by my maternal great-grandmother and paternal grandmother.  A quilt stitched together by the two families that make me whole.  My granny gave this to us to have for our new home and it's so special and I will treasure it always.

My awesome bridal party!
