Fitness Update

Hi!  I originally planned on posting this on Saturday but life happened :)  I won't be doing a weekend recap this week because I didn't take a ton of pictures and the ones I did, I don't really want to share (seeing another blogger's issues with someone stealing their photos is making me more cautious at what I want to share).

We had a fun weekend though!  We helped my brother with a project, had an impromptu drive-in date night (SO much fun) where we watched The Boss which was really funny, Jared worked yesterday so I went to church and worked outside with my family & had dinner with some family friends!

FOOD

Fresh fruit :)  My favorite WW snack because it's 0 points!  Fruit in between meals helps me with not getting hungry and grabbing something I shouldn't!

My Strawberry Protein Smoothies are making all the difference in my weight loss journey!  See how I make them here.
One of my go-to lunches this week was a turkey sandwich (3 smart points with just turkey & pickles), bbq baked lays (4 smart points for a serving) and this day I threw in a cheese wedge since I had extra points!  I've noticed that if I pack my lunch and eat at my desk before I run home or run errands on lunch, I eat so much less!  Plus I can use the time I normally would be eating to get more done on my lunch break :)

FITNESS

I'm still doing Pure Barre 3-4 times a week and am also adding in evening walks a few days and some CIZE starting this week!  I'm trying to change it up to cover cardio & strength training without doing the same thing every day.

This week's results...
I was super happy to see a pound come off!  When I first started this journey, bigger drops happened so it was discouraging when those amounts weren't as big each week.  I remind myself that I have a lot less to lose at this point and I'm going to have to work harder to get smaller numbers!  It all adds up in the end :)

I definitely splurged too much this weekend so I'm getting completely back on track today!  My stomach feels so cruddy today and I know it's because I ate some things I shouldn't this weekend.  It's just not worth feeling that way, which is why I try not to do that when I can avoid it!

Strawberry Protein Smoothie

As you all know, I've been on a health & fitness journey since last July!  I post weekly fitness updates here on Saturday's where I post about my workouts, favorite meals, tips, progress, etc. if you want to keep up with those!

One of the biggest things that has helped me in this journey is increasing my protein at breakfast with these smoothies!  I normally drink one of these and snack on a few pieces of microwave bacon at my desk in the morning.  This fuels me up with so much protein and has really helped me control my choices the rest of the day!  I decided to share the recipe with you in case you're looking for a healthy filling breakfast option!  Side note: if you suffer with stomach issues like I do, I have found that drinking my breakfast instead of introducing solid foods first thing in the morning has really helped with that too!

Ingredients:
Handful of fresh spinach
6-8 strawberries
1 scoop protein powder
3/4 C water (more if the consistency is too thick for you but this does create more foam)

I throw everything in the blender and blend it until smooth!  I use this blender and LOVE it!  It's only $16.99 and I've been using mine for like 4 years now instead of our full size one.  I love it because it's easy to get out in the mornings and clean up, PLUS it makes the perfect amount of smoothie to fit in a full size Tervis tumbler!

This is the whey protein I use!  I find it at Kroger.

If you use the new Weight Watchers smart points system, this is 3 points!!

Enjoy!

Favorite Workout Clothes

I love to dress up but the more I get into working out, the more I love fitness clothes as well! I have found the ones that work best for me from a comfort & price point and wanted to share those with you.

Now that my hair is growing back out, I need to start using skinny headbands again!  I have some cheap ones that aren't really doing the trick but I've been eyeing these Zella ones & may have to get those soon! this one!  It's perfect for throwing on in the mornings to go to Pure Barre! Nike running shoes are my favorite and I'm looking at these for my next pair!  Mine will get me through Spring but then I'm going to need a fresh pair for my workouts this summer. Target has the best sports bras and I own and love this one and this one.
I recently discover Old Navy's activewear and I love their tanks like this one for regular workouts & Pure Barre!
Legings are essential for this Barre addict and my favorites are the C9, Zella live in, and Zella live in crop!

Fitness Update

Hello all!  Sorry for a delayed fitness update!  My weekend recap will be up soon as well :)  I had a second round of the stomach flu this weekend which has me behind on everything!

FITNESS

Survived is the word!  I started Pure Barre at the end of February and started March off with the Pure Madness Challenge!  It was tough but definitely got me off on the right start with Pure Barre!  Now that the challenge is over, I'm still trying to maintain at least 4-5 classes a week and as the weather warms up I'm going to add my long walks back in where I can as well.

As a reward for completing my challenge and first month of Pure Barre, I picked up some goodies!  Let me tell you that towel is ESSENTIAL in platform classes!  I don't sweat a lot typically but that class has me drenching.  So tough but awesome!

FOOD

I've been working on planning out my meals & snacks ahead of time again and it is really helping!  The biggest challenges for me right now are waiting for fresh veggie season (so much easier for me to eat healthy) and the fact that it's our busy season which can mean lots of eating on the go sometimes.  We are going back to crockpot meals to combat this and I'm excited to see how this helps with my weight loss goals!

Some of my favorite foods this week:

Favorite snack!  All of this for 2sp :)

Trader Joe's Chicken Parmesan lollipops!  You can have 6 for 8sp and they're so yummy!

Jared and I love to get takeout hibachi but it's obviously not super WW friendly for me!  Now, I eat his soup & salad that he never eats (3sp) and eat Trader Joe's chicken potstickers (7 for 6sp) with some soy sauce for dipping (I normally eat 1sp worth).  So yummy & I don't have all the guilt afterwards!  (Plus it's cheaper!!)

I love Mexican food.  Seriously, love it.  Taco salads are my go-to when eating Mexican!  I ask for extra tomatoes & do not eat the shell!  It allows me to indulge a little without going overboard :)

This week, I am focusing on getting all my PB sessions in, cleaning up my meals where I can and staying on track with points, water intake, etc!  Basically, I just want to fully get back to the fundamentals where I was seeing such good results before!

Fitness Update

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!

It's Saturday, which means it's time for a Fitness Update!  I don't weigh in for the first time since getting back on the bandwagon until Wednesday so hoping to report a good loss next weekend :)

Fitness
Last week, I talked about signing up for the Pure Barre Pure Madness Challenge.  The challenge is doing 20 Pure Barre classes in 31 days.  I took class 10 this morning and 6 of those were this week so I'm pretty proud of myself :)  I go every morning at 5:30 through the week and then at least once on the weekend.  It's really hard to roll out of bed at 4:45 but I feel so good after getting my workout in and can feel my body changing already so it's totally worth it!  I also used to have a terrible time getting to sleep on work nights (I'm a night owl) and now I'm so tired it's hard to stay up past 9:30.

Food

I've been concentrating on staying within my Weight Watchers points each day and trying to motivate myself to keep making good choices to see good results.  Sometimes it's really hard but the more days in a row that I stay on track, the easier it is to keep going!
A major victory for me was this week when my husband wanted our favorite Japanese takeout.  I wanted hibachi steak & fried rice SO bad.  However, I knew that it would use up a bunch of points and that I would regret it when I ate the leftovers the next day for lunch to screw up two days.  Instead of giving in to my craving, I ate soup and salad from the restaurant for 3 smart points and then cooked 7 Trader Joe's chicken potstickers for 6 smart points to go with it!  So many fewer points, I was perfectly full and not feeling guilty after eating, AND I had a few points leftover that I got to use for popcorn!!

One of my favorite things to throw together for lunch/dinner right now is taco salads. I cook nacho chicken in the crockpot that we use for dinner one night and then I can make lots more meals off of it!  These are quick & easy to make, low in points and don't make me feel like I'm eating "diet food."
Also, I'm trying to read more health/fitness related magazines, books & articles.  The more I make learning about health and fitness a part of my life the more I love working on those things!

Since I've lost weight, very few clothes fit so I'm having to get creative in my closet to make things work until I hit my goal weight!  I feel so much more confident in my clothes but having so few options keeps me motivated to get to my goal so I can find lots of cute new things to wear :)   20 pounds to go!! It's going to take work but it's totally worth it!

One of my favorite things about Weight Watchers is that I can stay on track and have extra points left for splurge meals!  I was able to have a yummy breakfast date with my husband this morning (note: I did not eat all of this!) and know that because I've stayed very much on track and kept up with my workouts that I don't have to feel guilty and will still see progress!

Fitness Update

I did not do the best job tracking/taking photos last week so I'm just going to leave you with my overall weight loss!  I'm pretty happy being down 0.8 considering I wasn't as strict.  I've already started being more strict this week and am hoping for a bigger drop next Wednesday!  I also ordered Cize and am looking forward to getting it to step up my workouts.
