Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  Hard to believe those words are true...this weekend went by too fast!!  We have a good week ahead but there's nothing like the weekend so here's to hoping Friday comes back around quickly :)

Friday, I kicked the weekend off with a hair appointment where I chopped my hair off again.  I was trying to grow it out but I had just had enough of having my hair under the blow dryer in this heat!! I am so glad I cut it off, it has cut down so much time on getting ready!  I'll go back to growing it out this fall but for now I'm loving less time blow drying :) 

Friday night Jared was working so I had a yummy sushi dinner with Dylan & Lauren.  Afterwards, Haley & I got in a 5 mile walk before I went to visit with my grandparents!

Saturday was a scorcher here!  I walked 3 miles Saturday morning and I was so hot & sweaty!  Jared landscaped all morning and I'm not sure how he did it!

After we both cleaned up, we had a little date night!  Yummy dinner followed by some Friday Night Lights and an early bedtime for him after all that work :)  Our home office was calling my name so I may or may not have burned the midnight oil doing some organizing and filing in there! 

Sunday, we decided to just have a lazy day!  We've been so busy so it was nice to just slow down and hang out all day.  It is so hot here right now, I live in lightweight dresses!!  Anyone else loving navy & white this summer?  We spent the day running a few quick errands, doing a few things around the house but mainly just relaxing and capping the night off with a dinner out.  It was exactly the kind of day we needed before taking on the week :)

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  This week has seemed SO long for some reason but I am so excited the weekend is here :)

1. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Boy did I have fun shopping this sale!  I found lots of goodies & several Christmas presents :)  If you are still shopping the sale or just getting started check out my picks here!  Once my items arrive, I'll do a post with photos & reviews!

2. Getting Healthy

I have really focused on getting healthy and losing weight over the past month (walking and Weight Watchers mostly) and my work is starting to pay off already.  See my first fitness update here!  I'm going to be posting my progress each Thursday so feel free to come follow along!  Also, I'm always wanting to learn so if you have any tips or meal ideas feel free to share :)

3. Subway Salads

I have been obsessed with Subway salads lately!  They are so yummy & filling!  I feel so stuffed after I eat one and love grabbing them for lunch or dinner.  Not to mention, they are low on Weight Watchers points which makes me extra happy :)

4. Christmas Ornaments

Yes, we are the crazy people that pre-ordered our Christmas ornaments from Hallmark!  We wanted to make sure we could get the ones we wanted so we ordered them about a month ago and I was able to pick them up this week.  Off to the closet they go until later this year but I'm excited to have them on our Christmas tree this year :)

5. Answered Prayers
I think it's important when God answers your prayers to share that with others to give the glory to Him.  I had been struggling with something for a while and prayed about it every single day.  One day, the answer and what I was supposed to do came to me as clear as could be.  It was the first time in a long time that I felt like God was speaking directly to me!  What a humbling and amazing feeling :)  Really trusting in Him and praying hard will result in an answer in His time which turns out to be the absolute perfect timing.  All I had to do was really give up control & trust him! So thankful for my growing faith each day & for answered prayers :)

Nordstrom Sale Picks

Early access to the Nordstrom sale ends tonight so if you're a cardholder it's time to purchase any last minute items before the sale goes public!  If you're not a cardholder, get ready for some awesome deals :) I have done some serious #NSale damage... Okay, I haven't been that bad but I did snag a few goodies and lots of Christmas gifts :)  If I love everything I ordered, I'm pretty sure I can mark 4 people off my Christmas to-buy list.  I call that a Christmas in July success!

For those who haven't gotten to shop the sale yet, I wanted to highlight some of the best deals I've found & my favorite items so you can purchase them right away and not have to search through the pages!  Nordstrom has free shipping & returns (just another reason I love them so much) so if there's something that goes fast or a few main things you want add those to your cart and checkout fast!  You can always peruse the rest of the sale after and place a second order of other items.  If you place something in your cart it might be sold out by the time you check out!

I love these brush heads for my Clarisonic!  I paid $27.00 for my last replacement and you can get FOUR for $64.80!!!  Clarisonic users...that is what we call a HUGE deal!  I ordered a set and they will last me at least a year.  Buy these here!

St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse

Ladies, this self tanner is fab!  It is my absolute favorite I've ever used and works so well.  I purchased the 4oz bottle (regularly $32) well over a month ago and apply it pretty much every 3 days and have not ran out yet.  It works great & is worth every penny at that price!  During the sale you can get a 13.5oz and travel 1.69oz bottles plus a hand & face mitt for $49!! This is huge.  I definitely added one of these to my order.  I wager to bet I'll be able to tan the rest of the year off the big bottle and the mitts are so handy to keep your tan smooth and your hands from turning orange.  Shop this set here!

Fitness Update

About a month ago, I decided to really start focusing on my overall health!  A big part of that was that I wanted to lose a significant amount of weight.  Working at a desk for the past 4 years combined with bad eating & exercise habits has taken a toll on my waistline.  Only one "diet" had ever really worked for me in the past and that was Weight Watchers.

I decided to sign up for the program again and try to increase my activity level as well.  I am so glad I committed to making this effort!  I wanted to give it a full month before I started sharing much about it on my blog or social media but now am going to start sharing my experience so that I can hold myself accountable. 

I am 5 weeks into Weight Watchers and down 10 pounds!  I still have so much to go but I could never have lost that without having a program to be committed to.  It really is the easiest "diet" because it's not one.  I still eat the foods I love, I have just learned how to make tradeoffs and limit my portions.  When you're limited to a certain number of points you get very creative in how to cut them out where you can to maximize your food intake! 

I have done really well at staying under my weekly points allowance and hope to continue to use less of my weekly extra points as I go to increase my loss each week.  However, it is nice knowing I have them if it's a holiday or I have an event I want to splurge on!  I'm trying to walk at least a little every day and do circuits and strength training where I can.  I'm also wearing my Polar Loop daily and making myself get up and take extra steps around the office to stay more active during the work day.

I can tell such a difference in my appetite and self control already and hope to continue seeing great results!  My weigh in days are Wednesdays so I'm going to be posting an update on Thursday each week!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  Honestly, it's hard to say that.  I'm so sad the weekend is over :/  We have a great week ahead but weekends are my absolute favorite :)

I started the weekend off with my new Kendra Scott Rae necklace that I LOVE!!  So lightweight and such good quality!  It's currently on sale at Nordstrom here.

Friday night, we had lots to do after work and once we finished up and could grab dinner we couldn't decide on something we both wanted!  Anybody else ever have nights like that?  I ended up with a Subway salad & Jared ate his fave O'Charley's appetizer.  We were both happy campers but it was a unique meal for sure :) 

Saturday morning I started the day with a 7.5 mile walk with Haley!  Such a good way to start the day - exercise & girl talk!

Saturday afternoon was Cooper's birthday party!  How cute is Cole?  Such a sweet boy!

Birthday party fun!

When it is so miserably hot outside, there's not much I like better than a lightweight and easy summer dress!  After the party, I visited Jared's family for a while and then headed to MC to hang out with Dad & Darlene!

Sunday brought church and then grocery shopping & errands with my handsome husband :)  We had such a relaxing Sunday afternoon and it was SO nice!!

I had lots of points leftover for a cheat meal this week so Jared treated me to Olive Garden last night and it was delicious.  Worth every point :)

However, my new health consciousness had me feeling guilty so I snuck in a short walk last night to walk off some of that meal :)  Sunday nights filled with yummy foods & curling up on the couch with my husband to watch some more Friday Night Lights are a definite favorite for us!

It really was a great weekend & I hope you all had a great one too!
