Weekend Recap

I'm recapping this past weekend today and it was a great one!!

On Friday, I worked a half day and then Jared and I traveled to Louisville with my Dad & Darlene to see GARTH!! We were so excited :)

Waiting outside!

Cuties!

I seriously should have been born in Texas on a ranch, I could wear boots & a hat every day!

Dad borrowed my hat for a bit :)  He looks like a Ewing oil man!

Family.

Cardinal fries I tried for the first time!  I didn't eat very many (too many WW points but they were yummy!!)

Ready to go!

Excited for her first concert!

Garth was AMAZING!!  We all had such an awesome time at the concert!

I'm honestly surprised I had a voice after the concert because I was dancing & singing the whole time!

Headed home!  We all had so much fun together and at the concert :)  Such a fun memory to have!!

Unfortunately, Saturday morning I woke up with either food poisoning or the stomach flu...again.  Jared had to landscape so I spent most of the day getting sick or laying down.  It took me down.  It finally eased up in the afternoon so I had a very small dinner with Jared before he went back to the fire station and some time with my grandparents that night (I kept my distance just in case of course).  I slept most of the afternoon and all night though!

Sunday, we mainly laid around (I was still recovering & Jared had a long night at work) but we did grab a yummy lunch with Dad & Darlene and did our grocery shopping for the week!  Afterwards, we just laid around and hung out the rest of the day which was exactly what we both needed :)
Food prepping for the week Sunday night!  Getting sick again inspired me to clean up my diet even more than I have.  I figured my stomach must not be very healthy if I keep getting sick so I'm really focusing on staying under my WW points this week but also doing it with cleaner & more natural foods as much as I can.  Having these snack baggies ready to go saves me a lot of time in the mornings and keeps me from grabbing unhealthy options!

Overall, it was the BEST weekend minus the getting sick part but I would do that all over again to have the rest of the weekend!

Fitness Update

Hello all!  Sorry for a delayed fitness update!  My weekend recap will be up soon as well :)  I had a second round of the stomach flu this weekend which has me behind on everything!

FITNESS

Survived is the word!  I started Pure Barre at the end of February and started March off with the Pure Madness Challenge!  It was tough but definitely got me off on the right start with Pure Barre!  Now that the challenge is over, I'm still trying to maintain at least 4-5 classes a week and as the weather warms up I'm going to add my long walks back in where I can as well.

As a reward for completing my challenge and first month of Pure Barre, I picked up some goodies!  Let me tell you that towel is ESSENTIAL in platform classes!  I don't sweat a lot typically but that class has me drenching.  So tough but awesome!

FOOD

I've been working on planning out my meals & snacks ahead of time again and it is really helping!  The biggest challenges for me right now are waiting for fresh veggie season (so much easier for me to eat healthy) and the fact that it's our busy season which can mean lots of eating on the go sometimes.  We are going back to crockpot meals to combat this and I'm excited to see how this helps with my weight loss goals!

Some of my favorite foods this week:

Favorite snack!  All of this for 2sp :)

Trader Joe's Chicken Parmesan lollipops!  You can have 6 for 8sp and they're so yummy!

Jared and I love to get takeout hibachi but it's obviously not super WW friendly for me!  Now, I eat his soup & salad that he never eats (3sp) and eat Trader Joe's chicken potstickers (7 for 6sp) with some soy sauce for dipping (I normally eat 1sp worth).  So yummy & I don't have all the guilt afterwards!  (Plus it's cheaper!!)

I love Mexican food.  Seriously, love it.  Taco salads are my go-to when eating Mexican!  I ask for extra tomatoes & do not eat the shell!  It allows me to indulge a little without going overboard :)

This week, I am focusing on getting all my PB sessions in, cleaning up my meals where I can and staying on track with points, water intake, etc!  Basically, I just want to fully get back to the fundamentals where I was seeing such good results before!

I'm drooling over this new Kate Spade tea collection!  Tea time is something very special with me and my granny so I'm in love with these pieces.  I especially want the studs and one of the necklaces!  I probably wouldn't carry that wicker purse but it's so cute.  If it was cheaper, I would use it for a dining room decoration just to do something with it ha!

This is my life lately during our busy season!  See more of our recent happenings here!

Happenings

Hello all! Sorry posts have been few and far between the past two weeks, working on getting lots written up this week so there shouldn't be gaps like that anymore :)  I feel like I went to bed and it was still our winter slow season and woke up crazy busy the next day!!

A little background if you're new around here, in addition to working in a financial advising firm, I own an organic lawn care business, The Green Peacock, with my husband and do marketing/social media work for another family business on the side, and I do some other consulting on my own as well!  All of these hit their peak March-October!  It makes for a great hibernation in the winter but a crazy busy schedule the rest of the year!

I thought I would share some random thoughts & updates with you all today until it's back to the regular schedule around here!

Some recent happenings/random thoughts...

Well, it's officially top knot and lots of caffeine season for me!!  I get up at 4:30 to go to my 5:30 barre class and my day doesn't stop from there until late.  This means top knots that take so much less time than styling and lots of water & caffeine to fuel me during the day!

We have been lucky to eat dinner by 8 or 9 the past two weeks (hate eating that late)!  Last year, during this season we were all about the crockpot meals because they would be ready to eat at a normal dinner time and all the work was done!  We've decided to really get back into those!  These are our favorites but I'm looking for more!  Share any of your ideas with me :)

Is anyone else watching the RHOBH?  I think Eileen and LR are like dogs with a bone at the moment.  Anyone else ready for a new topic?  Side note: I traveled through Dubai to China and although we didn't get to leave the airport, the decadence in the airport alone was amazing and now after seeing more of the city in these episodes, I want to fly back and explore the city!

I finished the Pure Barre march madness challenge and am super proud of that!  I'm staying committed to class 4-5 days a week through the busy season.  I can tell such a difference in how I feel and my productivity level when I'm working out consistently.

Have you seen Kate Spade's new tea collection?  Seriously, just take my money now.

I am on a decorating kick at the house right now (of course that happens during busy season ha!) and have gotten rid of lots of empty walls :)  As soon as I get pictures in the frames I'll be sharing the results with you all!  It makes our house feel so much more cozy!

I'm normally not a coffee drinker, tea and Coke are more my jam, but I have a feeling I'm going to be using my stockpiled Starbucks gift cards I normally reserve for hot chocolate in the winter for some mocha frappucinos to keep me going!  Are their teas any good? I've always wanted to try them!

On a cheesy note, it's so fun having a business with my husband!  It's hard work but we work together well and having a shared goal of where we want it to go makes it easier too!  If I'm going to be working a lot of hours and sleep deprived, he's the only one I'd want to do it with :)  Feeling extra super thankful for him lately!  I married a great one :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Oh and the winner of the Lilly Pulitzer wine glasses was Hanna McLemore!  I'll be mailing those to her this week :)

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  Whew.  What. a. week.  It's been non-stop in our house!!  So thankful the weekend is here which means I actually get to see my husband for some quality time.  Seriously, this week has been so crazy that one night we saw each other for the 20 minutes in the car it took me to give him a ride back from the next county over where we pick up our certified organic compost.  We scarfed down some Chick Fil A after and went to bed.  Needless to say, this girl is ready to take a breath and just spend some time catching up with her husband and around the house this weekend :)

A major favorite this week is completing the Pure Barre Pure Madness Challenge!  20 classes in 31 days complete :)  The stomach flu and going out of town slowed me down a little but I finished up this morning and am so proud of myself for reaching this goal!  I'm blown away by the results of 1 month of Pure Barre and can't wait to see how month 2 goes :)  More to come on this topic in my fitness update tomorrow!

Target had these mirrors on clearance when I went at lunch the other day so I grabbed two!  We have a small wall in our hallway that I just wanted something simple on that wouldn't overpower the space and I think this set will be perfect :)

My new bracelet from Nordstrom!  I love B.P. jewelry for fun additions each season.  This bracelet is sold out but here is an almost identical one of the same brand, it just clasps instead of being a stretch bracelet!

Spring cleaning is in full force in our house!  I'm cleaning out every drawer and closet.  I cannot stand clutter and my new motto is if we don't use it or don't love it, out it goes!  Stay tuned for some spring cleaning related posts coming to the blog!  I have created a method that is working for us in our house, largely based on these 5 Useful Tips from The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Spring cleaning just puts me in a great mood :)  Am I the only crazy one that loves it?!

A definite favorite this week was celebrating Easter!  See my full recap here.

Have you had a chance to read my post on How to Build a Spring Capsule Wardrobe?  If you've always wanted a more simplified wardrobe that makes your life easier, I've built one for you!  Check it out here.

See you back here tomorrow for a Fitness Update!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!
