Birchbox

Several months ago I ran across an ad for Birchbox.  I love samples and trying new beauty products!  I hate paying full price to try something so Birchbox was right up my alley.  It costs $10 per month and you receive a box with beauty samples from great brands.  The sample sizes are great and if you order anything out of your box that month you get free shipping on it!  Also, if you review the products for them you earn points that can be redeemed for money to spend in their store.  I get so excited when I see my box arrive because it's always full of awesome goodies!  Below are the products I received in my September Birchbox:

Weekend Recap

This weekend was relaxing and fun!  Friday night, my brother and I had dinner with my grandparents and just hung out with them.  It was so nice to just relax and hang out for several hours.  Saturday, I watched my Cards win the Governor's Cup!!  That night, I attended my step-cousin's wedding.  The Hamilton wedding was beautiful and lots of fun!

On Sunday, we went to church and had lunch.  It was such a beautiful day that we ended up going to the bug exhibit at the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden.  The gardens were absolutely beautiful and the bugs were pretty cool too!

I found an Elvis scarecrow :)!!

Went to Target after leaving the garden and found these awesome glasses:

Lady in Red

This past weekend I attended the CYLO Lady in Red event with some friends.  It was so much fun!  We had a good group of Junior League girls there and we all had a blast hanging out and dancing!  Below are a few of my favorite pictures from the night :)

Sharla's Birthday

For Labor Day weekend, I spent the weekend in Nashville for my friend Sharla's birthday.  You can visit her awesome blog here.  Casi (you can visit her blog here) and I headed down a night early to go out in Nashville.  Sundy Best, one of my favorite bands, was having their CD release party at the Wildhorse Saloon so we decided to go check it out.  Their show was amazing as usual!   If you haven't heard of them check them out, you won't regret it.   I would recommend starting with these three songs:

All of their music is amazing!!

We had such a fun night out!

Sundy Best :)

Ahh look who we got to meet!! I was one happy girl!

The next day we rented a boat on Percy Priest Lake to celebrate Sharla's birthday.  We had so much fun!

Before we left Nashville on Monday, we decided to try Firefly.  That place is amazing!!!  I will definitely be eating there again.

It was a great weekend and I was so happy to be able to help Sharla celebrate!  When she left Nashville, she was New York bound which I'm sure you'll be able to read about on her blog soon.

Waffles, Wine & Memories

Growing up, my friend Sarah would have waffle parties.  We would all go to her house and take our favorite waffle topping and just eat waffles and hang out!  It was so much fun and one of my favorite memories.

Now that several of us are back home, Sarah decided to have a reunion night and make it a waffle party (with the addition of wine now that we're of age :) )!   We had so much fun.  I honestly didn't know what to expect getting us all back together.  It had been 6 years since a lot of us had seen each other and so much had changed.   Or so I thought!  It took about 5 minutes for it to feel like we'd never been separated.  It was a night full of reminiscing, story telling, laughter and dance parties and it was amazing.

First time ever having chicken & waffles!

Recreating one of our favorite old poses!

Recreating our group couch picture (same couch from our younger days!)

Even though we have all forged separate paths, it was nice to see that the bonds between us were still there and the friendship had remained.  We are now planning on having another reunion night soon and I can't wait!

Bruno Baby

I LOVE Bruno Mars.  His music is so fun and catchy.  My aunt, two cousins and I decided to go see him when he came to Nashville in August.

We spent some time at Opry Mills shopping and then had an amazing dinner at Virago before the show!

Gorgeous view at Virago!

Bruno!

One of the best concerts I've ever been to!  He was so entertaining and he and his band were very involved with the crowd.  I would definitely go see him again! You can see a video of him performing one of my favorite songs at the concert here.

The Windy City

For vacation this year, Dad & Darlene took us to Chicago for a few days.  Dylan and I had never been before and were a little skeptical of what it had to offer.  Boy, were we surprised by how much we loved it!  We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott and couldn't have been more pleased by it's location or amenities.

Arriving in Chicago

After checking into our hotel we headed down to check out Navy Pier.  It was absolutely beautiful and perfect weather for a walk on the pier.  We grabbed lunch and I had my first official Chicago hot dog!

It was such a beautiful view!

Beautiful riverwalk!

The Bean!

For dinner our first night we went to Gino's to try some Chicago pizza.  The food was amazing and the atmosphere was awesome!

The next day the boys decided to head to the Museum of Science and Industry and we had breakfast and then shopped on Magnificent Mile :)

Yummy breakfast from Corner Bakery Café...

Shopping in Chicago was amazing, I loved getting to visit all my favorite stores :)  The boys had a blast at the museum too!

For dinner that night we decided to go back to Navy Pier so that we could enjoy the fireworks.  We picked Bubba Gump Shrimp.  Dylan and I had been to the one in Daytona Beach, FL before and loved it so we were excited to give the Chicago location a try.  It was so good!  I'm normally not a big chain restaurant person but this is one I love to visit.

Look who Dyl found outside :)

On our last day we decided to go see Wrigley Field!  It was so awesome getting to see such an iconic place in Chicago!

Beautiful drive on the way home....huge windmills everywhere!
