Our Home: DIY Whitewashed Fireplace

Our living room was one of our biggest projects when we bought our house!  We had a vision for what we wanted it to look like and one of the first steps was changing the fireplace.  We were going for a modern look and this just wasn't it.

We had the wood burning stove removed first!

It was a lot of work whitewashing the fireplace but it wasn't especially hard.  Basically, I mixed water and white paint half and half in a cup and then brushed it on small sections at a time with a paintbrush.  I would let it sit for a minute or two and then wipe it with a towel.  Then I would do a second layer over the same spot & this time dab it with the towel to give it some texture.  I basically repeated this process over and over and up inside the fireplace too :)

I think it turned out great!  Other than me being completely covered in white paint!  But it was worth it!  If you know me, I can never half do a project.  If I'm in, I'm all in.  In this case all in a bucket of white paint :)

Stay tuned to see my post about the renovation of the rest of the room!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  We had such a relaxing weekend that honestly I hardly took any pictures!  I was just enjoying hanging out with my husband too much!

I finally got around to joining the public library again now that I've moved and that called for a bubble bath & reading!
Love running errands and just doing life with this amazing husband of mine :)
We spent a lot of time working on our landscaping & making plans for what we want to plant, etc this weekend.  It's going to take several weekends to get it all done but it's a lot of fun to work on together so we don't mind!

Tried a new Broccoli, Chicken & Rice casserole that I'll share on the blog soon!

More landscape shopping :)

And, ended the weekend with one of my favorite meals - Chicken Spaghetti!  I'll share this recipe soon too.

We spent the whole weekend doing a little house & landscape shopping, relaxing, cooking dinner and just enjoying hanging out! Perfect way to spend a weekend :)

Just a reminder that there's still time to enter my Kate Spade stud earrings giveaway!

Seville Classics 3 Bag Laundry Sorter
You know you're getting older when you get super excited about a laundry hamper!  But seriously, so excited!  I've been making piles in the floor of our guest room to keep things separated which meant our guest room looked awful & the mess was driving us crazy!!  I ordered this new hamper from Wayfair and can't wait to put it together this weekend.

4. Aviators

I love aviators for the spring & summer and have found two pairs I love!  I found silver ones at Target (shop them here) and the gold ones at New York & Company (most of their sunglasses are only $8!!) found here.  Two great deals!  I lose and mess up sunglasses a lot so I always go with the cheap ones and honestly they seem to last longer than any expensive ones I've ever bought anyway!

Healthy & Yummy Taco Soup

We have been so busy lately with the new business and I've taken on some new projects myself that it has made cooking regularly and even keeping up with the blog more challenging!

We're really trying to reset in our house right now. Get the house clean, cook every night, relax in the evenings, etc. I decided to start working on some new recipes to post on the blog soon and am so excited to share this one with y'all! Seriously, delicious, easy and healthy. Does it get any better than that?!

Taco Soup

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
1 packet ranch mix
1,can corn
1 can great northern beans
1 can Mexican style stewed tomatoes
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can diced tomatoes
Garlic Powder
Sugar

Directions:
Brown the ground beef in a skillet and mix in half of each seasoning packet. Combine cooked & seasoned meat in a soup pot with the rest of each seasoning packet, corn, beans, and tomatoes. I added just a couple shakes of the garlic powder and a couple pinches of sugar. Cook on the stove for an hour and serve hot.

I added avocado & cheese to mine when eating it and you could add tortilla chips too! I've eaten it for lunch three days straight & Jared loved this soup too!

I'm normally not a soup fan in the spring/summer but I make an exception for taco soup and I love how filling it is!  Hope you enjoy : )

Our Wedding: Rehearsal Dinner

Our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner took place at our wedding location, The Country Plantation House in Greenville, KY.

The day of the rehearsal was full of last minute wedding errands, nail appointments & finalizing packing for the weekend!  It was a hectic but fun day!  Darlene, Katlin & I got so much accomplished and I even got to spend a little time with my groom :)

Once we arrived at the Plantation, everything started moving along quickly.  I have a heart arrhythmia that doesn't act up as much anymore but I guess the stress of everything caught up to me and I had an episode on the way downstairs to our rehearsal :/ So we ended up having to delay it for a few minutes while I waited for my heart to settle down!  That was really the only time I felt stressed so I guess my body just needed to get it out of its system!

We had been so busy the week of the wedding that I don't think the emotions of it had really hit me at this point.  When we started the rehearsal, I was fine but when it came time for my Dad to walk me down the aisle towards Jared something just changed.  I can't honestly put it into words but Jared and I both felt it!  I couldn't take my eyes off of his and I felt like I was floating in his direction.  It was the most perfect moment and I think that's what kept me at ease the whole wedding weekend.

Our Bridal Party (My MOH had to miss this part of the night so Darlene stood in for her!)

They didn't even coordinate on purpose.

Dad & Darlene :)

This is when Brother Sams asked us our opinion on his tie for the wedding and pulled out a UK tie.  Gag me!  As you can see I have a happy UK fan bridesmaid that loved the idea lol!  Got to love a fun rivalry ; )

Such a special moment standing there with my Dad & Jared and it was even better the next day!

All eyes on my groom :)

Happy :)

Love my bouquet of ribbons from all our showers!  Katlin did such an awesome job!  Funny story, during rehearsal the top just randomly fell off from all the weight, it was hilarious!

Can't believe we were hours away from becoming husband & wife!

Love. Our family of 5!
